Rescue Me ID: 17-05-09-00459Romeo (male)

Bulldog    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Adoption fee: $500 Location: Houston area Sweet and gentle Romeo is a laid back gentleman who just wants to be safe and loved. Romeo likes to relax near his people. He is content to lay on a cozy blanket, a soft pillow, or his bed. He also loves to catch some rays on a cool, sunny day. If you are looking for a Bulldog who will always be by your side to snuggle and cuddle, Romeo could be the one for you. Romeo is the kindest and gentlest dog his foster family has ever known. He is not dominant and has no aggression issues whatsoever with other dogs, food, or toys. He is crate and leash trained and can be left unattended with no issues. ... (Read More)This sweet fella does NOT like to exercise. AT ALL. Well, unless you count the happy dance he does when it's breakfast and dinner time. Romeo will bark and wiggle until his food is placed in front of him. It's totally adorable! Romeo does have arthritis and dry eye that require daily medications. He did have chronic ear infections before so his ears need to be monitored and cleaned. His canals do have some hardening due to this neglect. Romeo is very good about taking his eye and joint medications and waits to get his treat afterwards. He would not do well in a home or apartment with stairs or with small children who could be rough with him. Romeo requires a high-quality, grain-free food to keep his coat shiny and his skin clear. He is crate-trained and will enter his kennel on command. Just about any type of home would be great for Romeo, so long as there are plenty of opportunities for snuggling and snoozing with his people! Of course he would love to have a person to keep him company during the day, but he would also be just fine staying at home with his doggie companion (with a midday break to use the facilities, of course). Romeo would also make an excellent take-to-work dog, as long as you don't expect him to do much more than nap at your feet! If Romeo sounds like the dog for you, then give a click on the link below and tell us why you'd make a perfect match. He will be waiting for you! (Less)

Pug    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Adoption fee: $350 Location: Austin area Hi Dee Ho everyone, I am Percy and my owner passed away and left me and my other fur friends to fend for ourselves. We all were lucky that someone found us and contacted rescue. I was covered with fleas, underweight, full of intestinal parasites, not neutered, skin infections and dry eye, but lucky for me I am heartworm negative. The time has come for me to begin the search for my forever home....let me tell you a bit about myself. I am 6 yrs old, but I act more like a young pup with my active, playful, adventure seeking personality. When it comes to my manners inside the home, I am fully ... (Read More)potty trained, in addition I walk well on a leash, love car rides, loves toys, good with dogs and I love children. I do not care for a crate, but my foster mom says I would be fine left out in the home and don't worry even though I am an energetic boy I will settle right down when it is time for bed. I do need a fenced yard, not because I would run off, but because I would run to greet the first person I saw and that just would not be safe situation for me. I do require life long eye drops for condition called dry eye, the drops are not expensive and I do not mind taking them twice a day. I am not compatible for a family who works long hours away from the home as I am a true Velcro Pug with my human. I would be perfect for someone who stays at home, works from home or I would be more than happy to join you at the office. I have a happy demeanor and love to meet new humans. I can hardly wait to hear from you, just fill out my adoption application to add a little fun to your life, that's me....Percy! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-09-00449NELLIE (female)

French Bulldog Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Adoption fee: $450 Location: Houston area Whoa Nellie......Hi folks, my name is Nellie and I was picked up as a stray and found myself in the shelter. My owners never came forward to claim me so SMRS came to rescue me and take care of my numerous medical needs. I had the largest cherry eye that anyone had ever seen and if that wasn't enough I had a deep ulceration on the same eye. I was filthy dirty and covered with fleas, but luck was on my side and I am happy to report I am heartworm negative. Unfortunately, my eye did have to be removed and I am getting along just fine without it and the pain is gone which is the best part of all. I ... (Read More)am a sweet, happy girl who loves attention, running in a fenced yard, short walks around the block and in my spare time I am found chewing on a Nylabone curled up on my favorite blanket. I am not fond of small or large dogs at all, but I am quite happy with fur friends who are the same size as I am. I can be unpredictable so being an only dog is probably best for me. I am not compatible with cats or birds as I have to admit I love to chase both any chance I get. I am a independent, but stubborn bully girl and I can be crafty in getting what I want. I am crate trained, with no anxiety, but prefer to have company or at least a midday break. I will have accidents from time to time in my kennel, but only if I get excited. I like children and I will be best placed with a family with children 12 yrs and older. If you are ready to trade those boring evenings for a new, fun, best friend just grab my adoption application and and send it on over! (Less)

Adoption fee: $600 Location: Houston area Hey look me over, but don't pass me by! My name is Howie and I was found as a stray and dropped of at a scary place called a shelter. SMRS ran to my aid and I was taken to the Vet were it was found I did have those nasty things called Heartworms. I love to be petted, talked to and held....yes I love to be held and cuddle time is a must for me. My days are spent following you around the the home, chewing on Antlers and Nylabones. I am a versatile boy who would be a great match in a home with a fenced yard or an apartment as long as my adopter always had a leash on me. I was found as a stray so we know I like to wander away and I never want to see that shelter again! I like children and will be best matched with a family that has no small children as I love to greet you by jumping up and I sure would not want to topple over a small child. I currently take Thyroid medication daily and will most likely remain on this medication the rest of my life. I also have to take a supplement for my folic acid deficiency which gives me softer stools. I am ready to be your new family member and shower you with Bulldog love! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-05-09-00437Grant (male)

French Bulldog    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Adoption fee: $600 Location: Houston area Grant is an energetic, inquisitive boy who would thrive in an active household where he can get plenty of exercise and plenty of pets. Play hard and cuddle hard, that's Grant's motto! He loves playing fetch, chewing bones, and engaging in wild rumpuses with the resident frenchies. Grant was not cared for in his previous home so he came to foster care without many manners in the potty and socialization department. He is doing much better after his neuter, but is still a work in progress. When Grant came to us he was covered in fleas and had some mild hair-loss. His hair is growing back and his ... (Read More)itchyness is much improved. He is taking apoquel for the time being until his skin is better and he will need to be kept on a high-quality, grain-free food to keep his coat shiny and his skin clear. Grant is looking for a home where he can get plenty of attention and opportunities to play. He is not the type of dog who is content to curl up in a warm sunbeam and nap the day away-he craves stimulation and exercise and attention from his people. Grant would love a canine companion to romp around with, and if there are some kids who want in on the fun, all the better! Grant can be rough so kids over 10 years are a must. A household with Frenchie experience is also a plus, as Grant is smart and obedient, but has that trademark bully stubborn streak, and will need lots of patience and positive reinforcement as he adjusts to his forever home. If Grant sounds like the dog for you, then give a click on the link below and tell us why you'd make a perfect match. He will be waiting for you! (Less)

I enjoy going on walks, chewing on Nylabones and Balls are my favorite toy. Rescue Me ID: 16-04-27-00188Ray (male)

French Bulldog    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Arthritis

Adoption fee $300 Location: Houston Greetings, my name is Ray and my bonded mate is Bambi, we come as a pair. We lost our loving home when our owner suddenly passed away. Because we are different breeds, me being a French Bulldog and Bambi being a Pug/Brussels Griffon we went to separate Rescue organizations and after numerous weeks of us trying to adjust it was clear we both needed to be back together, so here we are two peas in a pod. I am a handsome older gentleman who has a heart of gold and gets along with all the dogs in my foster home, young and old, my size all the way down to a tiny 2.4 lb dog. I am house trained and I do best ... (Read More)with a regular potty schedule. I am crate trained although it is not my favorite place to be...I do best with Bambi by my side. I have a bit of a wonky walk, which is from my arthritis so a home without stairs is a must. Bambi and I do take daily Dasquin to help ease the stiffness. My daily joys include belly rubs, napping, patrolling the fenced backyard perimeters and I do love my treats! I will occasionally play with my favorite squeaky toy, but this is only when I feel a bit frisky. I am a bit hard of hearing, but don't worry I respond to a wave of a hand or if I am close I can hear you if you speak up just a little. I am a quiet boy who will only vocalize when you return home from a short outing and this is to let you know how very much I missed you. Let me introduce you to Bambi, she is my bonded mate and she is a beautiful Pug/Brussels Griffon southern girl that has impeccable manners. Bambi is beautifully house-trained, crate trained and also dog friendly. Neither Bambi or myself have any destructive behavior what so ever. Bambi enjoys sniffing around the yard, occasional sunbathing, rolling in the plush green grass, sleeping on the couch and she loves treats too! She isn't much for for toys or playing, but is a timid, loving, gentle wall flower type personality. We would both flourish in a less active, calm home with someone who is home most of the time. We currently do not share a home with children and the hustle and bustle of children would be to much us. We both love to follow you around the house as you do your daily chores and we are content sleeping in the bedroom at our foster home on those thick orthopedic beds. Best part, you won't hear a peep out of us all night, well ok maybe a little snoring from Bambi, but I don't snore at all. We hope you won't pass us by because we aren't young pups, we will bring sunshine to your home daily and we would be very grateful for a forever home. Don't wait a moment longer to apply for this sweet couple! Ray is bonded with his sister Bambi. She is being fostered with Ray, but is available for adoption through PugHearts Rescue of Houston. They come as a pair. (Less)
